2018 took an even slower start than 2017, in speed as well as
in distance. Weather and illness were definite factors, but the
biggest problem has been motivation. Recovery and improvement will
be a work in progress.
Kharlie stopped running in early November due to plantar fasciitis
in the right foot; he plans to resume gradually as the condition improves.

My first time running Chasing Chad’s Sundown Dash, at Monterey Park
in Janesville, WI. It was a mostly cloudy summer night, about 81°F
with dew point 63°F and a light northwest breeze. I pushed the pace
a little (after all, it was a race) so I was fairly winded throughout
but felt pretty good. My finish time was a pleasant surprise, as I was
aiming for 29 minutes.
Placement:

This was officially just a “fun run” so there were
no race bibs or times taken. I pushed the pace a little, but less
than I would for a more serious race. Finished strong and felt like
I could have done it again. After the race, I had water and a banana
and chatted with other runners before coming home.
