…with a silent “h”
Track #6 of Together with Wendi
This song was written and recorded in 1985, before Wendi changed her name legally from Wanda. It was done on cassette tape: the piano was recorded at church, and I overdubbed the vocal at home later. I digitized the recording on June 11, 2005, and for this album, I cleaned up the recording and remastered it. Wendi wanted the original version on this album.
1) My wife knows affection I do show
when sometimes I call her “Wanda Oh”
“Oh, how much I love you!”
is the message that I bring
And so I sing
this little thing
for Wanda Oh
2) When the disappointments overwhelm
and our ship is reeling at the helm
Then my love is flowing bittersweet
from head to feet
And then this man
does all he can
for Wanda Oh
3) When the sun is shining all around
and we feel like leaping up and down
We will lift our voices in a song
and all day long
Praise God each time
in song and rhyme
with Wanda Oh
4) When her life is over, she’ll go home
nevermore to wander or to roam
But her mem’ry always will be mine
so in that time
I’ll sing with pain
this sweet refrain
of Wanda Oh
5) Then someday up there we’ll meet again
not as wife and husband, but as friends
We will share eternal joy and bliss
instead of this
I’ll see her face
and then embrace
my Wanda Oh
I’ll see her face
and then embrace
my Wanda Oh
