Track #3 of Together with Wendi

I wrote this song for our first wedding anniversary in 1983. I’ve changed only the lines “a month or two” in the first verse (to “a little while”) and “a year” in the second verse (to “many years”), as the original lyrics would no longer be appropriate.

Sweet love, this song I sing
to share my deepest feelings
Visions of hope I bring
So rare and so appealing
Only a little while
it seems that we’ve been married
It has been worth it all
Each moment that we’ve tarried
We’ve prayed so many times
Before God’s presence kneeling
He promised in His Word
the victory and healing

Sweet love, we’ve made it through
many years of life together
Through all the trying times
and all the stormy weather
God knows what next year holds
and time will tell the story
Maybe eternity
will begin for us in glory
’Til then, we must not fear
though evil overtake us
For God is ever near
and He will not forsake us
