Bless Baby

Track #9 of The Child in You

Written for my granddaughter, Asha, in 2016. This song is both a lullaby and a prayer.

You are alive, and you breathe the fresh air,
Beholding the light of day;
Tenderly now, and so innocent there,
An infant so small, with a life to share.

Thank you for life, precious Father above!
How enormous your goodness! How great your love!
Your mercies are new each day;
Bless baby, dear Lord, we pray.

We are alive, and we breathe the fresh air,
Beholding the light of day;
Praying for peace and good will everywhere,
Our hearts look to heaven as here we stay.

Thank you for life, precious Father above!
How enormous your goodness! How great your love!
Your mercies are new each day;
Watch over our baby, and every hour,
Protect her and strengthen her by your power,
And cause her to grow like a beautiful flower.
Bless baby, dear Lord, we pray.
