…with a silent “h”
Track #6 of The Child in You
Written in honor of a baby lost to miscarriage in 1986. The gender was actually unknown, so we conjectured the rest.
Dana Leigh, you are a dream—
with flowing blond hair and eyes of green,
and today I think of you so much;
Wish I could see your smile and feel the touch
of your gentle hand clinging onto mine
and your voice saying, “Daddy,
I want to spend some time with you.”
Dana Leigh, so long ago,
Unborn to Heaven, as well we know,
But the void is still here in all our hearts;
We remain behind to do our parts
for life, for family, for each other’s love—
You were our little flower taken up above.
Dana Leigh, you never were
a walking, talking little girl,
but today we think of what might have been;
You would be a dear and precious friend
to Mommy and Daddy and little brother too—
Each and every day, we just want you to know
we miss you.
