…with a silent “h”
Track #8 of The Child in You
Written in honor of a baby in Illinois in 2016 that was born at 23 weeks gestation, weighing only 1 lb. 3 oz. (about 540 grams). After a long struggle, he survived and was five years old when this album was released.
A baby grows inside you,
A new life yet to come.
The heart’s already beating,
Like the beating of a drum.
Everything’s progressing smoothly
until one day, something’s wrong:
A disturbing complication
which demands that we all be strong.
Born too early, born so small,
It’s a miracle that they live at all!
Little wonders of faith and science;
As we watch and hope and pray,
The little warrior fights for the life
we take for granted every day.
We see the baby resting
Inside the calm NICU,
With nurses in attendance,
But there are angels in there too,
Watching over all the babies
So they never are alone,
And parents pray that soon someday
They can bring their baby home.
Born too early, born so small,
It’s a miracle that they live at all!
Little wonders of faith and science;
As we watch and hope and pray,
The little warrior fights for the life
we take for granted every day.
Little wonders of faith and science;
As we watch and hope and pray,
The little warrior fights for the life
we take for granted every day.
