For most of us, 2021 has been a busy, crazy, and often
bewildering year. Below is a sampling of it, from my own
vantage point:
WORLD
Capitol riot - Jan. 6
Notable trials, racial reckoning continue
COVID still a major issue - we’ve both been vaccinated and boosted.
Most of Wendi’s medical appointments are virtual
HEALTH
Wendi fell Feb. 27, broke her nose
Wendi in hospital May 18–26 with double infection
Mercy Home Health served us until mid-July
Her health is getting worse overall; she had several Urgent Care visits
Caregiver grant paid for new lift recliner and other supplies,
also respite care
Running: left knee better but right hip messed up, still mending.
I managed to run one trail race on Aug. 7, but I got lost!
Did run/walk intervals but have stopped for now
OTHER
Deaths - one neighbor, several members of our church, three good friends,
two in Wendi’s family… and our cat, Stormy; our son’s cat, Aurora,
also died this year. Add to that a multitude of celebrity deaths,
including Betty White, who died today, just short of her 100th birthday.
New refrigerator and new stove
Homemade TV antenna system finished since Dec. 6 and working well
Newly renewed interest in astronomy after Nov. 19 lunar eclipse; new telescope Dec. 29
Van trouble since Thanksgiving - still had good Thanksgiving and Christmas
with friends, though we had to rent a car over Christmas. Head gasket repair
is set for Jan. 5–6.
WEBSITES
Kharlie.com got a makeover in February
Rebuilding the Oo Kingdom (ookingdom.com) - started in Jan/Feb, resumed in Dec.
MUSIC
Umm album reissued Feb. 19
Last newsletter was in June, after release of The Child in You, June 14–16
I attended three open mics this year, the latest on Dec. 15, but that was it
What’s Planned for 2022
It’s often said that the best laid plans go awry, but it never
hurts to try!
MUSIC: Working on reissue of Wedding Day including extra tracks.
Three more full albums are planned after that (this could take years).
WEBSITES: Finish the ookingdom.com conversion. Keep Kharlie.com updated.
HEALTH: Plan to slowly reintegrate running in the spring, as the hip
is progressing nicely. Continue caring for Wendi.
OTHER: Use the new telescope to observe the Moon, planets, and stars.
If you read this before midnight on New Year’s Eve… I’ll be
doing a brief livestream at 12:15 am; otherwise you can find it on Facebook later.
As always, I’ll keep you informed of anything new happening with Kharlie M.
Best wishes for the New Year! May you find comfort, if that applies, and health
and happiness too!
