A Wide Variety of Shows

The Independence Day show at Midwest Christian Center was a great success. I (Kharlie M) played from 3:30 to 4:30 pm; the set of 17 songs included originals, a few covers, one hymn, and several patriotic songs. Several others also played at the event: Diana Rasmussen (with a band!), Ken Wagman, David Lawrence, and the band Days of Awe.

On Sunday, July 16, we had an impromptu visit from our son Joe, his wife Elizabeth, and our granddaughter Asha. We also have their cat, Aurora, for a time until they relocate. After dinner, I played a few songs for them. Everyone was enjoying the music and asked me to keep playing. I played for over an hour! Asha seemed to really enjoy it. So I guess this was an impromptu house concert.

Prone to Sorrow (duo of Mackenzie Benish and Vicky Kolego) played at the Lake Country Art Festival in Hartland, WI on Saturday, July 8. They did a marvelous job at the Open Mic at Mocha Moment on Wednesday, July 19.

Upcoming shows: they will play at Glas Shawano in Shawano, WI on Thursday, July 20 at 5 pm. Then they will play “Music in the Loft” at Bodacious Shops of Block 42 in Janesville (119 N. Main St.) on Friday, July 21 from 6 to 8 pm.

Janesville's own Mystery Mirrors will be playing on the Main Stage at Voigt Music Center on Friday, July 21 at 5:30 pm, as part of the Friday Local Feature Series.

Mystery Mirrors is a local feel-good Indie-Rock group with elements of Surf and Psychedelia. Jesse Ramirez, the lead singer and guitarist, is also hosting the Open Mic at Mocha Moment for the summer.
